Ways to Donate

Cash or Cheque

Place your money in your envelope and put it in the basket during Mass. Those unable to come to weekend Mass for health reasons can mail it to the parish by post, or drop it in the office mail slot.

Use the envelopes provided by the office for the current year, and write the amount on the envelope, so that we can accurately log your donations for your tax receipt.

Interact e-Transfer

Interac eTransfer is suitable for people who do have online banking, but don't have cheques or stamps, or are not yet able to come to Mass regularly.  If you wish to donate by Interac eTransfer, send it to:

finance@stjudesparish.org

You will have to include a security question and answer, so send that to the bookkeeper in a separate email to the same address.  The National Bank of Canada provides this service for free.

Mass Intentions

Before Mass begins, the commentator says, "Today's Mass is offered for..."  This is the intention of the Mass. The priest and people pray in a special way for that person, uniting them supernaturally. The usual donation is $15 for an announced or unannounced Mass intention.

An announced Mass intention is published in the bulletin and made known before a public celebration of the Mass.

Donations made for Mass intentions are NOT included in the tax receipt.

Contact the parish office to request Mass Intentions.

Candles

People light candles in church as a form of prayer, asking for the intercession of a particular saint for a given need.  We have green candles for St. Jude; white candles for St. Anthony of Padua; red candles for St. Joseph; and blue, white and yellow candles for the Blessed Virgin Mary.  People also light red candles in memory of a loved one.  The cost for a small candle is $2, and $6 for a large candle.

Sanctuary Lamp Devotion

Before a weekend Mass begins, you will hear words starting with, "This week the sanctuary lamp glows for..."  The intention is also listed in the bulletin.  You can request a dedication for a loved one, past or present.  The cost is $10.  Please contact the office for more information.

Why Not Pre-Authorized Debit?

Pre-authorized debit (PAD) is suitable for people with a regular income, especially if their travels take them away from the parish.  The National Bank of Canada does provides this service for a minimal charge, but parishioners have not expressed sufficient interest to proceed.

Income Tax Receipts

Income tax receipts were made available at the weekend Masses of February 22/23 and March 8/9 2025.

We mailed remaining receipts on 19 February 2025.
